TOPICAL PROBLEMS OF THE PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY IN BULGARIA

Summary

The article is devoted to some topical cartographic, geomorphological, climatic and hydrological problems in Bulgaria, which arose and were put forward to discussion after the Third Bulgarian Geographic Congress, being influenced at the same time by the National Party Conference and the Plenum of the Central Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party, held in July, 1978.

In the sphere of geographical cartography of Bulgaria such a topical problem is considered to be the application of new methods presenting the special map contents. Each map should be more expressive and easily read by everybody who needs it.

For geomorphology it is quite urgent to study first the relief structure and peculiarities and only then to find out some relations and interdependences between relief and the earth’s crust structure. The author emphasizes the necessity to clarify the origin of endogenetic forges, paying attention mainly to gravitation.

A question of present interest for the climatology of Bulgaria is the microclimate examination which affects mostly the development of agriculture and stock breeding.

In the sphere of hydrology an important problem in our country is related to the run-off genesis and run-off regulation so as to meet the needs of our national economy.
