TERRITORIAL STRUCTURE AND TRENDS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE DANUBE TRANSPORT IN BULGARIA

Summary

The Danube becomes a significant water way under the circumstances of increasing integration between the country-members of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance and between Bulgaria and the Soviet Union in particular.

The authors stress the necessity to use the Danube river as efficient water power, to increase its navigable depth, to enrich fish diversity and to raise the water level for irrigation.

Having compared Bulgaria with the other states, where the Danube runs through, they fix her place on the basis of various data in respect of number, size and traffic intensity of the most important harbours.
