METHOD FOR QUANTITATIVE ASSESSMENT OF ATMOSPHERIC SELF-PURIFICATION POTENTIAL

Summary

In this article the authors suggested an index characterizing the ability of atmosphere for self-purification. The index V they defined as multiplication of the mean wind velocity in the mixing layer, mixing height and unit vector perpendicular to wind direction. The index V, expressed in m³/sec, describes quantitatively the exchange of air masses over given region per unit space of time.

The atmospheric self-purification potential for Bulgaria was also calculated.
