FORESTRY ECONOMIC MEASURES AND THEIR IMPACT ON THE LANDSCAPE DYNAMICS IN THE SOUTHERN KRAISHTE DISTRICT

(Summary)

Forestry economic measures are an important factor which affects the natural development of landscape and causes considerable changes in their structure and dynamics. Against the background of gained experience it is obvious that the afforestation plans ignore both the present environmental state and future evolution of the ecosystems. The author tries to clarify some processes in connection with the forest exploitation and afforestation within three key sites in the Southern Kraishte district. Of great importance among the other forestry measures is the forest exploitation aiming to satisfy the industrial needs through clear cut and replacement of former species with black and white pine or sometimes with spruce trees. By clearing the forests there appeared various changes in the geosystem: increase of surface flow and intensification of soil — erosional processes, lessening of its productivity, etc. Generally speaking the whole landscape development is retarded.

These changes, which have taken place, give us ground to suggest that the cut of forests should be reduced. On the other hand, there must be selected and planted such species, similar to the natural ones in the respective zones.
