MAN’S IMPACT ON THE DYNAMIC PROCESSES CONCERNING THE VEGETATION OF NATURAL ECOSYSTEMS IN BULGARIA

V. Veltchev, I. Bondev

(Summary)

Man’s manifold activities have a strong impact on the dynamic processes of plant biocomponents in the ecosystems. Man has changed their species and simplified the structure of phytocenoses. Many original phytocenoses, respectively ecosystems and landscape systems, have been abolished and replaced by other phytocenoses (ecosystems and anthropogenic landscape systems) which are low productive, with poor stabilizing, hydrological, climatic, soil-protective and gas-exchanging functions. As a result of man’s activities the wood ecosystems which covered 95% of land in our country in the past, spread over scarcely 28—30% of the territories at present. Most affected are these phytocenoses and ecosystems, respectively landscape systems, located in the subalpine plant zone (2000—2500 m) and in the lowest plant zones as well with altitude below 1000 m which are more densely populated.
