Summary

Objects of investigation in this atricle are the basic trends and factors aiming to improve the future spatial structure of industry. Attention is paid above all to the role of scientific and technological progress, to the intensification of economy, the renovation of the fixed assets, the scope and sectoral structure of the long-term national investment programme in industry, the deepening of socialist integration, etc. It is this background against which the main methodological problems have been elucidated. Their proper solution should precede the elaboration of long-term prognoses for improving the industrial spatial structure of Bulgaria. Some key methodological aspects have also been emphasized in the course of working out unified far-reaching programmes for development and spatial organisation of the territorial-industrial complexes.
