THE INFLUENCE OF MODERNIZATION AND RECONSTRUCTION IN INDUSTRY ON THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN BULGARIA

Summary

It is necessary to modernize and reconstruct the fixed productive assets because of the inadequate equipment in industry, available in the immediate socialist period, and labour shortage. The two processes have been defined and differentiated from technological and organisational aspect. Much more are the privileges of modernizing and reconstructing the fixed productive assets than of building new ones: abridged production cycle, growth of the industrial output and raising Its standard, less capital investment, land retention, no need to construct social infrastructure, rational usage of the machinery, prime and raw materials, energy and manpower. According to the specific conditions the authors suggest modernization and reconstruction to be carried out by stages. In conclusion, they elucidate how these two processes affect the economic and production links in particular, the working conditions, specialisation, selective industrial development, etc., or generally speaking emphasis is put on the way they will intensify the labour productivity and production effectiveness, and enlarge the gross national product and national income.
