ON SOME ECONOMIC AND GEOGRAPHIC PROBLEMS OF THE INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT OF STRANRJA MOUNTAIN REGION

Summary

This article is concerned with the analysis of the field and territorial structure of the industry in the settlement systems of Malko Turnovo, Michurin, Grudovo, and Sozopol. The authors have outlined two stages, in the development of the industry in the Strandja Montain region. The first of them is between 1956 and 1970, when after the April plenum (1956) of the Central Commitee of the Bulgarian Communist Party a wide-scale prospecting was undertaken for the discovery of ores and minerals, in the Strandja Montain. The second stage begins with the March plenum of the Central Committe of the Bulgarian Communist Party (1970) when new industrial capacities were introduced in addition to those already functioning.

The analysis of the industrial field structure and the present state of the territorial organization of industrial production has enabled the authors to work out a new conception for the long-term development of the industry which will enhance the economic activation of the Strandja Montain region.
