Summary

The article treats the urban process in Bulgaria and the formation of urban agglomerations. Numerous maps and diagrams illustrate the urbanistation level, the growth of large towns and the spatial distribution of urban agglomerations Ariaga and Polyan’s formulae have been used to determine by coefficients the urban level for each district. To sum up, the prospects for development and the problems of paramount importance within certain urban agglomerations have been discussed.
