ROLE OF RECREATIONAL AND TOURIST RESOURCES AS A PRODUCTION FACTOR

Summary

In this paper attention has been focused on the definition of the three main production factors — means of labour, subject of labour and labour force, and on their role in the tourist economy. We presume that the main peculiarities of the tourist production process are as follows: 1) its final product are tourist services; 2) in the process of use recreational and tourist resources are not taken away from the territorial complexes of which they are elements; 3) man labour is being constantly directed towards the resources for bettering their qualities.

On this base we assume that recreational and tourist resources, by analogy with Marxist understanding of land’s dual nature as a production factor, may be considered both as a subject of labour and as means of production. However, in the case of being means of production they are to be differentiated from the technical base of tourism. The latter plays the role of active production funds, while he resources — the role of passive production funds.
