SPACE ORGANISATION OF THE TOURISM AND RECREATION IN THE DISTRICT OF VIDIN

Summary

On the basis of asessment of the recreational resources as well as the socio-economic factors the existence of a separate Vidin – Belogradchik recreational microregion was established. Within, the microregion three smaller units were formed – Vidin, Belogradchik, and Koula ones. Their areas do not coincide with the economic and physical-geographical units in the district.

In 1979 a complex programme of the development of short- time recreation was adopted. According to this programme 14 zones were pointed out – some of them outside the recreational microregion itself (see map). The author perceives the zone as a small territorial concentriation of resources and material base for recreation and not as a taxonomic level.

The Vidin-Belogradchik microregion disposes with a relatively large amount of resources and accommodation facilities sufficient for meeting the demand at present and near future. Nevertheless accommodation and infrastructure require modernisation.
