Summary

This paper throws light upon the specific features and problems of tourism in current stagnation of international tourism are examined as well as its possible. Austria for 1960-1985 with spacial attention to the last five years. The causes of and negative trend. Steps to consolidate the position of Austria as a country of international tourism are suggested. The increasing role of marketing, advertising state investment policy and the problems of pollution of the environment are here emphasized. The principal task facing the tourist offer in Austria is its further modernization, diversification and organization in line with the most progressive trends in the world tourism.
