GEOMORPHOLOGICAL INTERPRETATION OF QUATERNERY SEDIMENTS IN THE DALE OF BOTEVGRAD IN CONNECTION WITH ITS MORPHOGENESIS

M. Georgiev, T. Nenov

Summary

This work tries to give a more profound characteristics of the quaternery sediments and above all of their genetic classification, lithologie, stratification and morphogenetic sigmificans.

The thickness of quaternery sediments increases in the east half of the dale of Botevgrad from south to north anol in its west half from west-south-west to east-north-east. According to the depth of the quaternery sediments and the in them paleorelief in the foundation of the dale, fossilated in them, the following smaller paleomorphotectonic zones can be distinguished: the lowering of Pravets — 130 m maximum thickness of the quaterner, the lowering of Troudovishko—138 m and others. They are separeted by transversely situated elevations with tectonic — erosive origin. In some placec they are higher than the level of the dale forming elevations.

In the dale of Botevgrad are developed mainly three facieses of quaternery sediments — proluvium, alluvium and delluvium.

According to their facieses the quaternery sediments are characterized with definite zones and morphologic determination.

The formation of the different genetic types of quaternery sediments, their thickness and facieses are in close connection with the character of the tectonic movements in the quaterner.

The main role in the proces hav played the differentiated movements on the Dragoibalcan fault, which is taken to be youngest crushed structure in the system of the Balcan facial stripe in this part of the Balkanides.
